Surgery & Cabling

For many of us, a tree is just another part of the landscape. It doesn’t go anywhere, it doesn’t do anything, and it’s always in the same place. Whether it’s mid-morning, late at night, the dead of winter, or in the heat of summer, that tree isn’t going anywhere.

But sometimes it helps to be reminded that, like us, trees are living. Sure, they may not be sentient, and conversations with them are definitely one-sided, but they are absolutely alive. That means they’re susceptible to injury and disease, and if they aren’t given the tree care they need, they will die.

In a situation like that, you can’t just offer the tree two aspirin and tell it to call you in the morning. What are you supposed to do if a limb has been compromised? Essentially, that’s where tree surgery and cabling comes into play. With cabling, the tree surgeon installs a network of steel cables between the major limbs of the tree. This helps to reduce the strain borne by the tree caused by ice, snow, or leaves and limbs. From there, the tree surgeon can prune, cut, and do what needs to be done to save the life of the tree.
